PA Lottery Prize Worth More Than $500,000 to Expire Feb. 13 - Unclaimed, Jackpot-Winning Cash 5 Ticket was Sold in Allegheny County

Middletown – January 27, 2011 - Time is running out for the holder of a jackpot-winning Cash 5 ticket worth $539,359.50 from the Feb. 13, 2010, drawing to claim the prize.

The ticket and prize will expire one year from the date of the drawing.

“It’s possible this ticket was tucked into a Valentine’s Day card last year,” said Drew Svitko, Lottery interim executive director. “Certainly if someone finds the ticket, it will be an even better Valentine’s Day present this year, but the winner must turn it in soon to claim the prize.”

The soon-to-expire Cash 5 ticket correctly matched all five numbers drawn, 07-17-29-32-43, for a jackpot of $539,359.50, less 25-percent federal withholding. It was sold at BP, 1001 Evergreen Road, Pittsburgh.

The Pennsylvania Lottery encourages the ticket-holder to sign the back of the ticket, call the Lottery at 717-702-8146 and file a claim at Lottery headquarters in Middletown, Dauphin County, or at any of Lottery’s seven area offices. Claims may be filed at headquarters Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., and from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at area Lottery offices.

Because the prize expires on a Sunday, the last chance to file a claim in person will be Friday, Feb. 11; a claim submitted by mail must be postmarked by Saturday, Feb. 12.

Unclaimed, expired lottery prizes remain in the Lottery Fund and are used to support programs benefiting older Pennsylvanians. Last fiscal year, the Pennsylvania Lottery contributed nearly $127 million to programs that benefited seniors in Allegheny County.

How to play Cash 5: To play Cash 5, players pay $1 and select five numbers from 1 to 43. Players may select their own numbers using a Cash 5 playslip, or they may opt for computer-selected quick picks. Players must match all five numbers drawn to win the jackpot. Players also win prizes for matching two, three or four winning numbers. Cash 5 drawings are held seven nights a week, and tickets can be purchased up to seven draws (one week) in advance. Odds of winning the jackpot prize are 1-in-962,598; the overall odds of winning any prize are about 1-in-10.5.
