PA Lottery Thanks Players, Marks May as Older Pennsylvanians Month

Middletown – Celebrating May as Older Pennsylvanians Month, the Pennsylvania Lottery thanked its players today for making possible nearly $23.7 billion in lottery-funded benefits for older adults since the first game went on sale in 1972.

“Pennsylvania Lottery players should feel great about making a positive difference in the lives of older adults,” said Lottery Executive Director Sil Lutkewitte. “The more than $1 billion generated by the Lottery last year to fund benefits for older Pennsylvanians would not have been possible without our players.”

The Pennsylvania Lottery remains the only lottery to dedicate all proceeds to support benefits to older adults, which include:
• Low-cost prescription help offered through the PACE and PACENET programs;
• Property tax and rent rebates provided through the Department of Revenue;
• Free transit and reduced-fare shared rides;
• Long-term living services; and
• Numerous local services offered through the state’s 52 Area Agencies on Aging, including hundreds of full- and part-time senior centers.
