$1 Million Powerball Prize Won; Jackpot Grows to $334 Million
Middletown, PA – Last night’s Powerball® drawing produced nearly 96,000 winners across Pennsylvania, including a $1 million winner in Philadelphia and a $150,000 Power Play® winner in Erie County, before the jackpot rolled to $334 million for Saturday’s drawing.
The winning Powerball® ticket worth $1 million from the Wednesday, December 30, drawing, was sold at Sunoco, 1560 Cottman Ave., Philadelphia. The ticket correctly matched all five white balls drawn, 12-36-38-54-61, but not the red Powerball 22, to win $1 million, less applicable tax withholding. The retailer will receive a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
In Erie County, a winning Powerball with Power Play® ticket worth $150,000 was sold at Country Fair, 7495 Main St., Fairview. The retailer will receive a $500 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
The ticket correctly matched four of the five white balls drawn, but not the red Powerball, to win $150,000, less applicable tax withholding. It was sold with the $1 Power Play option and the multiplier drawn was three, which boosted the prize to $150,000 instead of $50,000.
Lottery officials cannot confirm the identity of the winners until the prizes are claimed and the ticket is validated. Pennsylvania Lottery Powerball winners have one year from the drawing date to claim prizes.
The Lottery encourages the holder of the winning ticket to sign the back of the ticket, call the Lottery at 717-702-8146 and file a claim at Lottery headquarters in Middletown, Dauphin County, or at any of Lottery’s seven area offices.
Claims may be filed Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at area offices and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at headquarters. NOTE: Lottery offices will be closed the afternoon of December 31 and all day on January 1.
More than 95,900 Powerball tickets won prizes of various amounts in the December 30 drawing, including 18,031 tickets purchased with the Power Play option that multiplied their prizes by three.
Players should check every ticket, every time, and immediately sign winning tickets. Lower-tier prizes may be claimed at a Lottery retailer.
The Powerball jackpot rolled to an estimated annuity value of $334 million, or $205 million cash, for the Saturday, January 2, drawing.
In the 2014-15 fiscal year, in addition to awarding more than $287.6 million in prizes to Philadelphia County winners, the Pennsylvania Lottery contributed more than $307.3 million to programs serving the county’s older residents. In Erie County, in addition to awarding more than $49.1 million in prizes to winners, the Pennsylvania Lottery contributed more than $30.7 million to programs serving the county’s older residents.
