Free and Reduced-Fare Transportation

Free and Reduced-Fare Transportation

Any Pennsylvania resident, age 65 or older, can ride fixed-route public transit for free, while commuter rail trips are $1 each. Seniors age 65 or older also qualify to use shared-ride, demand-responsive services at a reduced rate.

In 2012-13, more than $159 million in Lottery funds provided for nearly 35 million free transit rides and more than 4 million shared rides.

On average, the Lottery helped provide more than 107,000 free and reduced-fare shared rides for older Pennsylvanians, every day.
