Kmart 16 Shares $250,000 Mega Millions Prize
Sometimes it pays to keep in touch with your co-workers when you change jobs. Andrew Puskar of Fairless Hills, Bucks County, kept up with his friends’ Lottery pool, too. On Jan. 28, the group of 16 current and former co-workers won $250,000 playing Mega Millions.
Andrew started a Powerball pool with his co-workers at the Kmart distribution center in Bucks County, but left for a new job in 2010. His friend, Brian Nau of Fairless Hills, continued the pool and added Mega Millions to the group’s purchases when the game debuted in Pennsylvania last year. Every Friday, Brian buys the Kmart group’s tickets at Beer-A-Rama in Levittown, Bucks County, choosing Powerball or Mega Millions based on which game has the higher jackpot.
By matching the first five numbers in the Jan. 28 Mega Millions drawing, the Kmart 16 won $250,000. The group missed out on that night’s advertised jackpot of $77 million by just one number, the Mega Ball number of 18 – which coincidentally is also Brian’s softball jersey number.
