Any Pennsylvania resident, age 65 or older, can ride fixed-route public transit for free, while commuter rail trips are $1 each. Seniors age 65 or older also qualify to use shared-ride, demand-responsive services at a reduced rate.
In 2011-12, the Lottery dedicated more than $168 million to provide nearly 36 million free transit rides and 4 million shared rides. On average last year, the Pennsylvania Lottery helped provide more than 110,000 free and reduced-fare rides for older Pennsylvanians, every day.
