Delaware County Woman Wins $100,000 from PA Lottery Instant Game

Swarthmore, Delaware County – March 23, 2011 - Sultana Schwartz, of Aston, Delaware County, won $100,000 from the Pennsylvania Lottery’s 20X The Money instant game.

District Lottery Supervisor Bill Sweeney today presented a ceremonial check to Schwartz at Swarthmore Beverage in Swarthmore, where the winning ticket was purchased. The store receives a $500 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

“I retired a few months ago, and I’d never played scratch-offs until then,” Schwartz said. “I have a regular routine – I buy a few instant tickets and then head over to the nearby deli before I work out. I ordered a bowl of soup and scratched my tickets. I read this ticket over and over because I thought it was a big winner. Then I went back to Swarthmore Beverage and asked the owner to check my ticket, and he told me it was a winner for $100,000.”

Schwartz, a former high school teacher, plans to spend her winnings on a trip to Scandinavia with her Swedish husband, paying off their mortgage and family gifts.

20X The Money, $5 per ticket, offers 20 top prizes of $100,000 and more than $37 million in total cash prizes. Ten top prizes remain to be claimed. The odds of winning a top prize in 20X The Money are 1-in-540,000, while the overall odds of winning any prize are 1-in-4.33.
