Pennsylvania Lottery Jackpot-Winning Cash 5 Tickets Sold in Lackawanna, Philadelphia, Northumberland Counties

Middletown – Jackpot-winning Pennsylvania Lottery Cash 5 tickets were recently sold in Lackawanna and Northumberland counties, and also in Philadelphia.  

Two Cash 5 tickets worth more than $258,000 each from the Friday, May 3 drawing were sold at Convenient Food Mart, 899 Davis St., Moosic, Lackawanna County; and Smokin’ Joe’s, 4901 Levick St., Philadelphia. They correctly matched all five balls, 16-20-28-37-39, to win a jackpot of $258,112.50, less 25 percent federal withholding. Each store will receive a $500 bonus for selling the winning tickets.

A Cash 5 ticket worth $225,000 from the Sunday, May 5 drawing was sold at Masser’s Farm Market, 6148 State Route 61, Paxinos, Northumberland County. It correctly matched all five balls, 06-24-29-33-41, to win a jackpot of $225,000, less 25 percent federal withholding. The retailer will receive a $500 selling bonus.

Lottery officials cannot confirm the identities of the winners until the prizes are claimed and the tickets are validated. Cash 5 winners have one year from the drawing date to claim prizes. 

The Lottery encourages holders of winning tickets to sign the back of the tickets, call the Lottery at 717-702-8146 and file a claim at any of Lottery’s seven area offices or at Lottery headquarters in Middletown, Dauphin County.

Claims may be filed Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at area offices and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Lottery headquarters. 

More than 85,700 other prize-winning Cash 5 tickets were also sold for the May 3 and May 5 drawings. 

In fiscal year 2011-12, the Pennsylvania Lottery awarded a total of more than $357.2 million in prizes to winners in Lackawanna, Philadelphia and Northumberland counties. The Lottery also contributed more than $250 million to programs that benefited older residents of those counties.

How to play Cash 5: To play Cash 5, players pay $1 and select five numbers from 1 to 43. Players may select their own numbers using a Cash 5 playslip, or they may opt for computer-selected quick picks. Players must match all five numbers drawn to win the jackpot. Players also win prizes for matching two, three or four winning numbers. Cash 5 drawings are held seven nights a week, and tickets can be purchased up to seven draws (one week) in advance. Odds of winning the jackpot prize are 1-in-962,598; the overall odds of winning any prize are about 1-in-10.5.
