Powerball Tickets Worth $2 Million and $1 Million Sold in Lycoming, Delaware Counties

Middletown – Two Powerball® tickets, one worth $2 million and one worth $1 million, were sold in Lycoming and Delaware counties for the Wednesday, Feb. 11, drawing.

Powerball tickets sold in Puerto Rico, North Carolina and Texas will share a $564.1 million annuity, or $381.1 million cash prize, from last night’s drawing. The jackpot ended up ranking as the Powerball game’s third-largest annuity prize and second-largest cash prize on record.

The large prize-winning tickets sold in Pennsylvania correctly matched all five white balls drawn, 11-13-25-39-54, but not the red Powerball 19, to win individual prizes of $2 million and $1 million, less 25 percent federal withholding.

The ticket worth $2 million was sold by Unity Food Mart, 219 N. Main St., Muncy, Lycoming County. It was sold with the $1 Power Play® option, which boosted the prize to $2 million. The retailer earns a $10,000 selling bonus.

The ticket worth $1 million was sold at Domestic & Imported Beverage, 485 Baltimore Pike, Glen Mills, Delaware County. The retailer earns a $5,000 bonus.

The prizes must be claimed and the tickets validated before the winners can be identified. Pennsylvania Lottery Powerball winners have one year from the drawing date to claim prizes.

The Lottery encourages the holders of the winning tickets to sign the back of the tickets, call the Lottery at 717-702-8146 and file a claim at any of Lottery’s seven area offices or at Lottery headquarters in Middletown, Dauphin County.

Claims may be filed Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at area offices and at headquarters from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

More than 365,700 other Pennsylvania Lottery Powerball tickets won prizes of varying amounts in the Wednesday drawing, including 58,640 winners who bought the Power Play feature and multiplied their prize by three.

During the Powerball jackpot run that began in early December and ended last night, more than 1.2 million Pennsylvania Lottery Powerball players won nearly $18.4 million in cash prizes, including four $1 million prizes (from the Dec. 6, Dec. 17 and Jan. 17 drawings) a $2 million prize (from the Feb. 4 drawing), and the $1 million and $2 million prizes from last night’s drawing.

In fiscal year 2013-14, the Pennsylvania Lottery awarded a total of more than $187.4 million in prizes to winners in Lycoming and Delaware counties. The Lottery also contributed nearly $59.8 million to programs that benefited older residents of both counties.

How to play Powerball: Players pay $2 and select five white balls from the first set of 59 numbers plus a single red ball, the Powerball, from a second set of 35 numbers. Players may select their own numbers using a Powerball playslip, or they may opt for computer-selected quick picks. Players must match all five numbers drawn plus the Powerball number to win the jackpot. There also are eight additional ways for players to win a cash prize.

Purchasing the $1 Power Play option allows a winner to increase lower-tier prizes by a factor of 2, 3, 4 or 5, depending on the Power Play number drawn. The jackpot and the Match 5 prize are not multiplied. The Match 5 prize with the Power Play option is set at $2 million. It is $1 million without Power Play.

Powerball is sold in 44 states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. In Pennsylvania, tickets are sold until 9:59 p.m. on drawings nights, Wednesday and Saturday.
