PICK Wild Ball Option is Creating More Winners

Middletown, PA – The Pennsylvania Lottery’s new Wild Ball option, which allows a Wild Ball number drawn by the Lottery to replace any other drawn number for the PICK family of games, is creating more winners.

“Wild Ball players won nearly 8,000 prizes in the first week of sales, creating a more than 31 percent increase in the total number of PICK winners,” said Lottery Executive Director Drew Svitko.

Introduced September 13, Wild Ball is available for the PICK 2, PICK 3, PICK 4, and PICK 5 games, which are drawn twice daily. At every drawing, the Pennsylvania Lottery draws a one-digit Wild Ball number that applies to all four PICK games for that drawing.

With option purchase, the Wild Ball number drawn by the Lottery can replace any other drawn number to help create a winning combination for the play type on that ticket.

Players may not randomly insert any number to create a winning play; the Wild Ball number chosen by the Lottery must replace a drawn number.

The Wild Ball feature offers a separate prize structure, which makes it possible for a player to win prizes with base game play and with Wild Ball, or through Wild Ball alone.

Adding Wild Ball doubles the cost of a PICK base game play. For example, a $1 play will cost a total of $2 if the player adds Wild Ball.

Players who do not wish to add Wild Ball can continue to play PICK games as they always have done; there are no changes to the base games.

More information about Wild Ball, including frequently asked questions, prizes, chances of winning, rules and a How to Play video, is available on the Wild Ball page or on any of the PICK game pages at palottery.com.

Wild Ball kick-off events continue to be held at select PA Lottery retailers through September 30, allowing customers to learn how to play PICK games with Wild Ball, get a coupon, enter in-store second-chance drawings and enjoy other fun promotions. Activities and offers may vary by location. A schedule of events may be found on the Wild Ball page at palottery.com.

About PICK games: The Pennsylvania Lottery’s PICK family of games has created winners across generations. PICK 3 was formerly known as The Daily Number, launched on March 1, 1977 as the Lottery’s first daily-draw game. PICK 4 was previously known as BIG 4, launched in 1980. PICK 5 was previously called Quinto, started in 2008. The newest PICK game, PICK 2, debuted in 2015 at the same time the existing games were renamed. Information on how to play each game is found at palottery.com.
