Indiana, PA – Officials from the Pennsylvania Lottery and Sheetz today presented a commemorative check to the winner of a recent $500,000 Cash 5 jackpot. The check presentation was held at Sheetz, 768 Wayne Ave., Indiana, Indiana County where the jackpot-winning ticket was sold. The store receives a $500 bonus for selling the big winner.

The winner, Caroline Le Anna of York County, bought the winning ticket while she was visiting her daughter, a freshman at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
 
“I normally don’t play Cash 5, I like the Match 6, but that day I thought oh why not,” said Le Anna.
Le Anna didn’t watch the drawing, she traveled home to York County and went grocery shopping instead and waited to check her ticket later at home.

“I called my daughter; I said ‘This can’t be real! I think I’m dreaming!’” said Le Anna, who said her daughter was in shock as well. “I guess I’m not dreaming. I just don’t believe this!”

Le Anna plans to use some of the money to help pay for her daughter’s tuition and she said she will use the rest to pay some bills.

“We are extremely excited to congratulate Caroline for her big Cash 5 jackpot,” said Pennsylvania Lottery Executive Director Drew Svitko. “More than 29,000 other Cash 5 tickets also won prizes from that same drawing. It’s thanks to players like Caroline and many others that the Lottery is able to fulfill its mission of generating funds for older Pennsylvanians.”

The jackpot-winning Pennsylvania Lottery Cash 5 ticket sold for the Sunday, September 22 drawing matched all five balls drawn, 04-06-19-29-36, to win $500,000, less withholding.

Cash 5 is the Pennsylvania Lottery’s longest-running jackpot game. It was launched as a weekly game on April 23, 1992. It became a nightly drawing in 1998. The televised drawing is conducted at 6:59 p.m., seven nights a week.

Earlier this year, Luther Coleman Jr., a Columbia County man, won a $2.4 million Cash 5 jackpot, which is the game’s all-time high jackpot. Players are reminded to check every ticket, every time.
