PA Lottery Presents Commemorative Check in Clinton County to Winner of $1 Million Match 6 Jackpot

1/12/2022
Mill Hall, PA – Officials from the Pennsylvania Lottery and Sheetz today presented a commemorative check to the winner of a recent $1 million Match 6 jackpot. The check presentation was held at Sheetz, 288 Hogan Boulevard, Mill Hall, Clinton County where the jackpot-winning ticket was sold. The store receives a $5,000 bonus for selling the big winner.

The winner, April Williams of Clinton County, said she bought the ticket while she was doing some holiday shopping, but didn’t realize she had won the big jackpot right away.

“I had gotten off work, it was right before Christmas and I was trying to get the last of the shopping done. I saw the PA Lottery machine right beside the ATM, and the numbers updated for the Match 6 jackpot, so I thought, ‘Oh I’ll just get $10 and a quick pick,’” said Williams.

Being a busy single mom of three kids, Williams said she didn’t check the ticket right away.

“Then with Christmas coming, I thought, I better get gas and run some errands. So I popped over to a convenience store and saw that the Powerball jackpot was up, so I went to grab a ticket,” said Williams. “That’s when I checked my Match 6 ticket, figuring I would just use any winnings from that toward the purchase of my Powerball ticket.”

When Williams scanned her Match 6 ticket, she said she didn’t believe what she saw.

“The scanner said to file a Pennsylvania Lottery claim, $1 million! I said, ‘That can’t be right!’ I asked the clerk to check the ticket and her eyes became as big as saucers,” said Williams.

“I said, ‘Did that say what I think it said?’” said Williams. “She said, ‘Yes, I’m pretty sure it did.’ I stood there in shock! I thought, ‘Oh my goodness!’”

Williams, who said she works at a paper factory, said she now looks forward to finally being able to take her children on a nice vacation. She also plans on some home improvements.

“Now I know that I will not die of a heart attack if I win the Lottery,” said Williams, laughing.

“We are extremely excited to congratulate April for her big Match 6 jackpot win,” said Pennsylvania Lottery Executive Director Drew Svitko. “The Pennsylvania Lottery will celebrate its 50th anniversary this March and we couldn’t be happier to see that after all these years, players are still enjoying games like Match 6, which help generate proceeds to help older Pennsylvanians.”

“April’s Match 6 win continues a streak of good luck for our customers, who won nearly $26 million in lottery cash prizes in 2021,” said Ryan Sheetz, Sheetz Vice President of Marketing and Brand. “I know that I join our store team in Mill Hall in congratulating April and her family.”

The jackpot-winning Pennsylvania Lottery Match 6 ticket sold for the Thursday, December 23, 2021 drawing matched all six winning numbers, 8-13-27-37-44-47, to win the $1 million jackpot prize, less applicable withholding.
