North Huntingdon, PA – Officials from the Pennsylvania Lottery and AccuServ Pharmacy, a Lottery retailer, today presented a commemorative check to the winner of a recent $1 million Scratch-Off ticket calledMillionaire Maker. The check presentation was held at the AccuServ Pharmacy, 8731 Route 30, North Huntingdon, where the winning ticket was sold. The store receives a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

The lucky winner, Nick Pletcher of Westmorland County, shared that he’s a single dad of two young children. He said he was extremely surprised when he saw that he won $1 million after scratching the ticket at the pharmacy while waiting for his prescription to be filled.

“It just feels really good! I was speechless. I couldn’t believe it,” said Pletcher. “I first thought about my two kids. They came to my mind first, and I just felt relief.”

Pletcher said he’s been working as a machinist for the past 18 years, and when you add a full-time job with raising two kids, he’s very busy. He said playing Pennsylvania Lottery Scratch-Offs is a fun way to find entertainment and treat himself when he has some free time.

“Most of the days I’m cleaning the house or running my kids to hockey practice,” said Pletcher. “This prize means a great future for my family, and maybe some nice family vacations.”

“It’s so nice to hear about people like Nick winning big; a single dad of two who has a little more cushion now to help his family. That’s a great thing,” said Pennsylvania Lottery Executive Director Drew Svitko. “It’s also important to remember that thanks to players like Nick, and our retailer partners like AccuServ Pharmacy, the Pennsylvania Lottery is able to generate funding for programs that benefit older Pennsylvanians. Those programs deliver property tax and rent rebates, free meals, transportation, and of course prescription assistance for seniors across the Commonwealth.”

The PA Lottery Scratch-Off, Millionaire Maker, went on sale on February 21, 2023, and is a $20 game that offers top prizes of $1 million.

“When we heard that Nick won big on a Scratch-Off ticket sold at this pharmacy, we were extremely excited!” said Marvin Sheffler, owner of AccuServ Pharmacy. “Selling Lottery products at our location is not only a win for our players and our business, but it’s also a win for the seniors in our local community who benefit from proceeds generated by the Lottery.”

Scratch-Offs are distributed at random, meaning the Pennsylvania Lottery and its retailers do not know where winning tickets will be sold. The Lottery learns where winning tickets are sold only after a prize has been claimed.

To determine if they have won a prize, players can review the ticket, scan it at a Lottery retailer or use the ticket checker feature on the Lottery’s Official App. Winners should immediately sign the back of the ticket, call the Lottery at 1-800-692-7481 and file a claim at the nearest Lottery office.

Prizes must be claimed and tickets validated before winners can be identified. Scratch-Off prizes expire one year from the game's end-sale date posted at palottery.com. All lottery prizes more than $5,000 are subject to applicable withholding. Visit palottery.com to review rules, chances of winning and learn how to play our traditional and online games.
