Estimated Powerball® Jackpot $1 Billion; $516.8 million cash value for Wednesday’s drawing

Middletown, PA – With the Powerball® jackpot now sitting at $1 billion ($516.8 million cash value) ahead of Wednesday’s drawing, the Pennsylvania Lottery is recognizing three winning Powerball® tickets from the Monday, July 17 drawing that are worth a combined total of $1.4 million. This includes one prize worth $1 million sold in Delaware County, and two other prizes worth $200,000 each sold in Lycoming and Allegheny counties.

Congratulations to the retailer in Pennsylvania who earned a $5,000 bonus for selling the Powerball® $1 million-winning ticket. That retailer is:
  • Bethel Food Market, 1406 Naamans Creek Road, Garnet Valley, Delaware County.
Meanwhile, the retailers who sold the $200,000 Powerball® with Power Play® winning tickets each earned a $500 bonus. They are:
  • Right-A-Way, 1200 Dewey Avenue, Williamsport, Lycoming County; and
  • Giant Eagle, 600 Towne Square Way, Pittsburgh, Allegheny County.
The $1 million-winning ticket matched five of the five white balls drawn, 5-8-9-17-41, to win $1 million, less applicable withholding. The two Powerball® with Power Play® tickets each matched four of the five white balls drawn and the red Powerball® 21 to win $200,000, less applicable withholding. Without the $1 Power Play® option, the tickets would have been worth $50,000 each. The Power Play® multiplier drawn was four.

Winners are not known until prizes are claimed and tickets are validated. Pennsylvania Lottery Powerball® winners have one year from the drawing date to claim prizes. Winning tickets purchased at a Lottery retailer should immediately be signed on the back. Online winnings automatically appear in a player’s account after the claim has been processed. Players may visit palottery.com for more information about how to file a claim.

More than 166,800 other PA Lottery Powerball® tickets won prizes of various amounts in Monday’s drawing, including more than 33,700 tickets purchased with Power Play® and more than 14,400 tickets purchased with Double Play®. Players should check every ticket, every time.

The current estimated Powerball jackpot of $1 billion ($516.8 million cash value) ranks as the seventh-largest U.S. lottery jackpot and third-largest Powerball jackpot. The Powerball jackpot has surpassed the $1 billion mark three times in the game’s history, including the world record $2.04 billion Powerball jackpot won last year, the $1.586 billion Powerball jackpot won in 2016, and the current jackpot prize.

Pennsylvania Lottery players have options to purchase their Powerball® tickets online or by visiting a retailer. Players can find lottery-selling locations closest to them by visiting the Find a Retailer section of the Lottery’s website.

National Lottery Week
This week kicks off National Lottery Week across North America and is a celebration of lotteries across the United States and Canada, in acknowledgement of their collective contributions to the communities they serve. Lottery Week evolved from an idea implemented by the Massachusetts Lottery in 2018. Declaring July 17 as the official National Lottery Day, players and retailers are offered special, exciting lottery promotions, celebrating the provision of billions of dollars in funding provided to Pennsylvania seniors since the commonwealth’s Lottery was established in 1971.

About Us: The Pennsylvania Lottery remains the only state lottery to direct all proceeds to programs that benefit older residents. Since ticket sales began in 1972, it has contributed more than $33.8 billion to fund property tax and rent rebates, transportation, care services, prescription assistance, and local services including senior centers and meals.

Visit the Winners and Benefits pages at palottery.com to review how much money each county receives in Lottery prizes and funding to benefit older Pennsylvanians.

Players must be 18 or older. Please play responsibly. Call 1-800-GAMBLER (1-800-426-2537) for help with a compulsive gambling problem.
