The PA Lottery Scratch-Off, THE GAME OF LIFE™, went on sale on May 16, 2023. The $10 game’s top prize offers the choice between an annuity option of $1,000 a week for life, or a one-time cash option of $1.04 million. The lucky winner, 50-year-old
Tricia St. John of Armstrong County, selected the annuity option.
“I actually didn’t believe it when I scratched it!”
said St. John. “I was running errands, picking up a few things here and there, and making a few different stops. Thank goodness I ran out of cream that day!”
Tricia said she told her husband, Paul, about the prize as soon as she arrived home.
“I came home and my husband was standing in the driveway. I told him, ‘We need to take a drive.’ I whispered in his ear, ‘I just won $1.04 million.’ He couldn’t believe it!” said St. John. “I really like to play those ‘Life’ tickets. I’ve only ever won $1,000 before. It’s that chance. You never know!”
St. John said she works as a bartender and has no plans to retire. She said that she and her husband will also continue in their hobby of vintage dirt track car racing. She said her husband owns a 1949 Crosley, a bunch of street cars, and a 1932 Ford Coupe.
“Winning a prize this big means we can live a little easier,” added St. John.
“We really enjoy hearing stories from our big winners like Tricia. It’s those stories that make playing the lottery exciting for others and allow players to dream big,”

Scratch-Offs are distributed at random, meaning the Pennsylvania Lottery and its retailers do not know where winning tickets will be sold. The Lottery learns where winning tickets are sold only after a prize has been claimed.
To determine if they have won a prize, players can review the ticket, scan it at a Lottery retailer or use the Ticket Checker feature on the Lottery’s
Official App. Winners should immediately sign the back of the ticket, call the Lottery at 1-800-692-7481 and file a claim at the nearest
Lottery office.
Prizes must be claimed and tickets validated before winners can be identified. Scratch-Off prizes expire one year from the game's end-sale date posted at
