Pennsylvania Lottery Drawings Offer Players Chance to Win $1 Million on National New Year’s Eve TV Show

Middletown, PA – The Pennsylvania Lottery and officials with Powerball® today announced that for the fifth consecutive year they are teaming up to present The Pennsylvania Lottery’s Second-Chance and special Online Drawings for the Powerball First Millionaire of the Year®. These promotions will offer Lottery players the chance to win $1 million in a separate special drawing broadcast live on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2024” on ABC.
 
“The ball drop in Times Square is a staple of the New Year’s Eve celebration, and that’s why we are excited to be part of it again this year,” said Pennsylvania Lottery Executive Director Drew Svitko. “Through special promotions like these, the Pennsylvania Lottery is able to continue generating funds that impact our older population every day, and offer fun, new ways to play and win.”
Here's a breakdown of the two drawings:
 
Second-Chance Drawing
Between now and September 14, 2023, Pennsylvania Lottery players may enter the following winning or non-winning tickets into the Second-Chance Drawing: PICK 2, PICK 3, PICK 4, PICK 5, Treasure Hunt, Cash 5 with Quick Cash, Match 6 Lotto, Cash4Life®, Powerball®, Mega Millions®, and Keno Draw Game tickets purchased in-store from a licensed PA Lottery retailer. For this Second-Chance Drawing, tickets purchased online aren’t eligible.
 
Online Prize Drawing
Between August 24 and September 18, 2023, the following winning or non-winning Draw Game tickets purchased online, including subscriptions, are eligible for entry into the Pennsylvania Lottery’s Online Prize Drawing: PICK 2, PICK 3, PICK 4, PICK 5, Treasure Hunt, Powerball®, Mega Millions®, Cash4Life®, and Match 6 Lotto.
 
Here is how the drawings will work:
  • Thirty-five semifinalists will be selected from all entries by the Pennsylvania Lottery: Thirty from the Second-Chance Drawing and five from the separate Online Prize Drawing.
  • Each of the 35 semifinalists will receive a cash prize of $2,024.
  • Each of the 35 semifinalists will be submitted for the VIP Trip Prize finalist drawing.
  • Five finalists from all participating U.S. Lotteries will be randomly selected from the national pool of lotteries to win a trip to New York City and be entered for a chance to win $1 million after midnight on Jan. 1, 2024.
The Pennsylvania Lottery is one of 23 U.S. lotteries participating in the Powerball First Millionaire of the Year® promotion. Entry dates and requirements vary by participating lottery.
 
Enter tickets as soon as possible after play, and please play responsibly. Mailed or late entries are not accepted. Games will remain on sale after the Second-Chance and Online Prize Drawings end.
 
Players may submit qualifying Second-Chance ticket information at palottery.com or via the PA Lottery’s Official App.
